This book is very helpful for preparing for the real world of work. Grandin and Duffy explain what careers my be a good fit depending on the interests or talents of a teen or adult. There is much useful information such as using mentors, preparing for an interview, preparing a portfolio.


Taking Care of Myself : A Hygeine, Puberty and Personal Curriculum for Young People with Autism by Mary Wrobel
This book is an excellent resource for parents as well as educators. Wrobel outlines stories and activities designed for students of different ability levels to help teach about hygiene, puberty and privacy. These ideas can be adapted to your child’s individual need. She covers everything from teaching why and how you wash your body, to why we do not touch our private areas in public.
