Jeremy Using an iPad

By Chantal Sicile-Kira |  April 20th, 2010 |  Print Print  |

Jeremy has been trying to master turning the pages of a book. He loves to read, and he loves learning, but getting all his motor planning / sensory processing to move the pages of a book are a bit much.   Here you can see how with the use of an iPad he learned quickly how to turn the pages of a book  on the iPad. Great use of technology!

First he learned to slide his finger across the screen:

Then he learned to slide his finger to turn the pages:

I hope this encourages others!

      Hello Andressann,

I’m traveling at the moment and Jeremy is not with me – and I will ask him when I get home. But I can say that for Jeremy, pointing to letters on a keyboard is easier than pushing on letterboard or litewriter keys because not so much physical pressure is needed. On the iPad, the sliding or flicking motion is easy to move pages of the iBook, but now he has to learn the right amount of pressure and precision to touch the letters on screen of iPad for using the keyboard.
We will figure a way for him to learn this.
      Best wishes with your child!
